Marcelo Fernández Flores, partner of the Boutique, directs the international arbitration and litigation practice, Marcelo has experience in international commercial, construction and investment arbitrations under ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL regulations, in matters related to energy, hydrocarbons, mining, telecommunications and transportation, among others.
He participated in multiple negotiations related to expropriations under the protection of Bilateral Investment Treaties, as well as in the negotiation of international arbitration clauses.
Marcelo worked as an associate in the international arbitration department at Dechert Law Firm (Paris) LLP, where he defended States, private parties and investors in different international arbitration proceedings. He worked in the Attorney General of the Bolivian State where he defended Bolivia in different international investment and commercial arbitrations.
He has work experience in mining, energy, administrative, telecommunications, aeronautical and project and program management law.
Marcelo Fernández Flores, is a Lawyer graduated from the Bolivian Private University, Master in Public Administration and Economic Development from the University of Arkansas, and in Arbitration and Transnational Dispute Resolution at the Institut d'études Politiques de Paris (SciencesPo).
I participate in the advanced course on Private International Law at the International Academy of Law in The Hague, the Commercial Arbitration course at the American University in Washington DC, and the International Investment Arbitration course at the Academy of International Arbitration in Paris, from which he is an ambassador.
Currently, Marcelo Fernandez Flores is a professor at the Bolivian Private University. Marcelo has taught at the bachelor's and master's level in different academic training centers in the areas of public international law, dispute resolution and international responsibility of states.
Member of the ICC arbitration and dispute resolution commission. Member of the ICC working group on corruption issues in international arbitration.
